What Is Our Demo Program All About?

How many times have you scoured the internet for reviews of a new bike or component you’re interested in, only to come up short and frustrated? Reviews can only go so far, and often it’s hard to translate a reviewer’s experience and comparisons into useful information that actually applies to you, your riding style, and your home trails.

We’ve experienced that frustration plenty of times ourselves, which is why we’re putting together a demo fleet of complete bikes, suspension products, and other components to give more riders hands-on experience before you have to commit.

We’re prioritizing this inventory based on what we think are some of the best products that need to be experienced first hand to truly understand. This demo inventory is always growing, and we’ll update this page as we have more options on hand. Feel free to reach out with any suggestions or requests.

Bikes Available for Demo

Are These Bikes Worth It?

Why we think they’re worth demoing: Banshee makes some of our favorite bikes, and we want more riders to experience what makes them so special. So we’ve got most of the Banshee lineup, including the 115 mm travel Phantom, the 135 mm Spitfire and Prime, the 155 mm Titan, the 160 mm Rune, and even the hardtail Paradox.

Demo the e*thirteen Sidekick Hub

What we have: A Sidekick rear hub laced into a 27.5” rim available with, or without a rear tire, cassette, and rotor.

Why we think it’s worth demoing: e*thirteen has taken a novel approach to managing pedal kickback and chain slap with their new Sidekick hub. It uses an adjustable pawl design to give you 12, 15, or 18 degrees of “deadband” before the hub picks up. This allows your suspension to cycle independently of your drivetrain to give you that magical chainless feeling. Additionally, the Sidekick is remarkably quiet, and has a very low rolling resistance.

That all sounds great on paper, but it’s hard to understand how much of a difference the Sidekick makes without actually spending time on it. Check out this episode of the Pinkbike Podcast to hear why they recommend demoing the Sidekick. We’ve got a complete 27.5” wheel, built around a Sidekick hub available for demo. We can set you up with our cassette, brake rotor, and tire, or swap yours on. Get out for a ride, and feel the difference.

Demo the Cane Creek Tigon

What we have: A complete size run of Cank Creek’s Tigon hybrid air and coil shock, with a full complement of springs to fit most bikes and rider weights.

Why we think it’s worth demoing: Cane Creek’s Tigon brings the best of both air and coil shocks to a single product. It combines the top-end sensitivity and ground-hugging feeling of a traditional coil shock with the ramp and progressivity of an air shock. And it’s incredibly tuneable. In addition to adjusting spring weight, compression, and rebound, you can also use the internal air chamber to adjust the amount of support and ramp that it gives.

As an added bonus, the Tigon is much more robust than traditional coil shocks, which makes it perfect for frames that tend to sideload and break shocks like Specialized Stumpjumper and Levo models, and Revel’s lineup. This shock is a great upgrade for folks looking for a little more end-stroke support from their coil shock, or looking to put a coil on a bike with a linkage design or leverage curve that doesn’t work well with traditional coils. Bring in your bike and we’ll get you set up with a Tigon to try out.

Reservations & Rates

We’re committed to keeping the demo process as simple and stress-free as possible. Here are some tips to make sure everything runs smoothly:!

  • Call or email ahead of time to make sure we’ve got the right demo product available for you.
  • When you come in to pick up your demo, make sure you’ve got your pedals, bike, or any other relevant gear. When demoing shocks, bring your old one in so that we can swap hardware. Know how much you weigh so that we can help you pick out your spring rate.
  • We’ll ask that you bring your state-issued ID
  • Demo pricing is: $75 for complete bikes, $25 for shocks, wheels, and other components. This price covers our setup time, and wear and tear on the demos. All demo costs are directly applicable to the price of the product if you decide to purchase.
  • Typically most demos are available for two days (pick it up within business hours on the first day, and then drop it off by EOD the next). If you communicate ahead of time, we can be flexible with our demo timing.
  • At the end of that period, you can either bring the demo back, or opt to purchase it. If you decide to purchase a demo, we ask that you bring it back into the shop so that we can swap it out for a brand new version, and set you up with all the appropriate warranty documentation.
  • Get out there and have fun with your new bike or component
